INDEPENDENT LIVING (IL) INSTRUCTOR to work 1:1 with high-functioning clients of the OCIL program who have disabilities.
BIG PLUS (but not required):

OC Independent Living provides independent living and daily living skills to high-functioning people with developmental disabilities throughout all of Orange county. We are currently seeking IL Instructors to work 1:1 with clients who are either currently living independently or are planning to move out of their family home. Areas of training and support typically include cooking, budgeting, setting up and getting to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, involvement in social activities and interfacing with social service agencies, etc.
IL Instructors will be matched with clients depending on geographic area, when appropriate.
We are looking for mature, motivated, fun, problem-solving type personalities who communicate well and are comfortable interacting with families and other agencies that provide support to our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as a role model and strong reliable resource while teaching living skills.
• Keep daily documentation and other records up-to-date.
• Establish and maintain unconditionally friendly, trusting and respectful relationships with clients.
• Stay focused and client-centered at all times.
• Participate in client progress meetings.
• May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of high school diploma or completion of GED.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Must possess critical thinking skills and be able to understand and be sensitive to various developmental disabilities such as autism, mild and moderate Intellectual Disabilities and cerebral palsy, for example.
Access to a computer to complete reports and send and receive documents via email, etc.
Applicants must pass a Live Scan background check and have a valid CA driver’s license (and clean record) and proof of a minimum of $100,000 liability auto insurance (check the declaration page of your policy).
Upon employment: First Aid, CPR, and Harassment Training certification (within 1 month), consent to drug testing.
*Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required (including boosters).
*No exceptions.
HOURS
Hourly, Flexible Part-Time.
This IL Instructor position fits well with school and other work schedules.
Schedules are worked out between you and your clients.
Hours may increase as new clients enter the program and are matched with IL Instructors.
PAY $20 per hour (with raise after 6 mos. and at 1 year)
The current pay range is $20-22/hr.
